Phishing Scams:
Phishing is a very popular scam on the internet today. Its purpose is to gain access to information pertaining to bank accounts, credit cards, social security numbers, pin numbers, passwords, or any other information the scammers can use for financial gain. The main purpose for this scam is identity theft.

The phishers send out emails that appear to be from a company you normally do business with. They include a link in the email for you to follow to go to the company website. When you click the link and go there, it looks the same as the company site, but it is a fake website designed by the scam artist. You have been asked to go to this website to update… Continue reading...

April 21, 2009 · Filed Under Computer Security, Tips and Ideas · Comment

Many email providers offer a complimentary spam blocker. A spam blocker is the life vest that saves you from having to sift through hundreds of spam emails daily. Trojan Horse – A Wolf in Sheep Clothing

April 14, 2009 · Filed Under Computer Security · Comment

I think it’s safe to assume that practically everyone who owns a computer has, at some point, heard or read about Trojans, a destructive program which at first appears to be nothing apart from an innocent application. Even though Trojan Horses don’t replicate as do viruses, they are, without any doubt, equally destructive. One in particular which can cause sever damage will often present itself as a program intended to remove viruses from a computer while in actuality, once inside your system, it enables viruses to gain access.

Many of those who spend time on the internet may have had an email at some point, alerting them to the latest virus discovered, together with claims that the major corporations such as Microsoft are… Continue reading...

Email Delivery – Make it Someone Else’s Concern

There is, without question, a dilemma facing email delivery on a global scale. In a way, the war between spam artists and companies who develop anti-spam software can be likened to a game of tennis, where two opponents hit the ball back and forth from one to the other. Of course these spam artists are devoted to their calling… Continue reading...
