Many email providers offer a complimentary spam blocker. A spam blocker is the life vest that saves you from having to sift through hundreds of spam emails daily. This form of anti-spam focuses on directing unsolicited emails toward your spam box and away from your inbox. It is effective about 90% of time, eliminating your risk for opening spam containing viruses and malicious coding that is harmful to your computer.

A spam blocker should not be confused with a spam filter. Spam has increasingly become known for containing malicious software that can actually hurt your personal computer. The entire purpose of these programs is to carry out unauthorized, commonly detrimental, actions. They self install on your computer, infect every program and file that they can. Usually these types of viruses are spread via email. Spammers will disguise them as harmless attachments in the hope that you will download them.
