How to Allow an Application Through the Windows 8 Firewall

Windows 8 uses a built-in firewall to monitor all inbound and outbound connections from your computer, providing protection against malicious online threats. Certain applications that feature online capabilities need to have unrestricted access through the Windows Firewall to work properly. If you want to allow an application to communicate through the Windows Firewall, you must manually unblock it via the “System and Security” section of the Windows 8 Control Panel.
